Hi, my name is James, or as some of my students used to call me, Chaplain Dude. I have been married for just over 20 years and we have four wonderful children. Originally from Melbourne my family and I came across to Adelaide South Australia in 1989 when I was in the Royal Australian Air Force and transferred over here. Born in the mid 60's I grew up in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, but due to difficulties at home which I go into in some of my books, I left home at the tender age of 16. I hitchhiked to Sydney with a mate who also ran away from home and we found ourselves living on the streets. I spent the better part of a year living on the streets where I got involved with drugs, alcohol and street crime. I have had quite some abuse in my past, much of which happened while on the streets and hitchhiking. I got to the point where I became very depressed and suicidal, and so I was on a path that was leading in only one direction, my own destruction. But I was rescued by a loving family who took me in as one of their own and they along with God helped me to straighten my life out and find healing, hope and a purpose and direction in my life. After leaving the RAAF in 1994 I attended Bible College and completed a Degree in Ministry and started my journey in Youth Ministry/Work that lead to School Chaplaincy and Preaching and finally to writing these books. I am very passionate about helping young people find hope and meaning to their life. I especially like the hard cases, the ones that many have given up on and to that end my second book Life Sucks came about, so if you have or know a teen who is on the wrong side of the tracks or is struggling in life, get the book, it has helped many teens already and will continue to do so, well that is my prayer. I am very down to earth in my writing style and so my books are very easy and engaging to read and I promise you once you start, you will find it hard to put down, at least that is what people have told me who have read my books, that includes teens. So please check them out.
